Review of Legacy #35 “Storms” part 2 of 2
by X-wingurly and Corax
For our second comic review we turn our sights on Legacy #35 the second and final issue of the Storms arc. After the break you will find our conversation about the newest developements for the crew of the Mynock, but be warned there are spoilers ahead.
Corax: The closing issue of the “Storms” arc is another great story and reads more like an epilogue of sorts.
X-wingurly: This issue was definitely more fast paced and basically gives an update on all the characters. I will give kudos to those who guessed that Azlyn Rae was the person in the armor on the cover of issue 35.
Corax: Yes Azlyn is indeed the person who is trapped in the armor. The armor has bacta flowing through it at all times, which is the only way Azlyn is able to live.
X-wingurly: Suffice it to say Azlyn, and Droo, are not happy about the outcome. Azlyn started kicking Cade’s butt and telling him she wanted to die, while Droo feels betrayed by Cade lying to her. I think Droo was right to tell Cade to not come back for awhile, if ever.
Corax: I think this was good though. It was a wake up call for Cade. He is now isolated from his family and the woman he loves hates him. Regardless of his choices, I really think Cade meant it we he told her that he loved her. It’s also interesting that no matter what Cade tried to do to help Azlyn she still ended up going back with Ganner.
X-wingurly: I think Cade loves her too. He is just so afraid of loss and has control issues that his choices are selfish and narrow. I will say my favorite scene was in the beginning with Jariah and Cade fighting. Hilarious.
Corax: That was hilarious. But Syn came out on top in this. He was the one pulling an out of control Cade back from the brink of doing something stupid like force lightning his cousin Ahnah.
X-wingurly: Ahnah was so sad at Jariah bailing Cade out and leaving her the way he did. Man, I am a sucker for the sentimental. lol
Corax: That was a sad part and it was cool to see the caring side of Syn. But the looks on the kids’ faces when the Mynock took off totally reminded me of The Empire Strikes Back, where everything looks so bleak for our heroes.
X-wingurly: Like you said, it was good that Cade had these confrontations. For those that have been waiting for it, I believe this is the turning point for him. He did not turn into a Suzy Sunshine-I-want-to-be-a-Jedi at the end but Cade did realize he was being an idiot.
Corax: There has been a lot of talk on forum boards that Cade shouldn’t be the focus of the series anymore, but what I think fans forget is that it’s only been like six months of in-universe time for these characters since the second issue. And the next arc for Cade and company is Tatooine and we all know that Tatooine is a place of revelation for Skywalkers.
X-wingurly: I can’t wait for the family drama to unfold
I also want to see more of Fel. We know he is ambitious, but when talking to the Imperial Knights he seemed very upset about the destruction of the talisman. In terms of light vs. dark I think he could go either way. Good for Ganner in standing up to Fel about how evil the talisman was.
Corax: I agree and his response to Ganner shows that he believes in the ends justify the means mentality.
X-wingurly: Meanwhile, Calixte has her own contacts on Coruscant and there is heavy speculation on everyone’s part if Krayt is really in stasis or not. Intel states that things did not go well for Krayt at Had Abbadon, so now I wonder how long his death will remain a secret.
Corax: I do too. I think for most Sith it will stay the way it is, but I believe Maladi and Nihl will question the story.
X-wingurly: So at the end of the issue we are left with Cade and company off to parts unknown, Ganner went to fetch Azlyn, Master Dare is getting Sinde off Dac, and Draco was assigned the task of getting intel on what’s going down on Coruscant to see if Krayt is really dead.
Corax: That sums it up. I thought that the Storms arc did a great job of tying up the loose ends after Vector and putting all the players back on the same page. I really do think that this will be a turning point for not only Cade but the galaxy as well.
