A Galaxy Not So Far Away - The Atlantis Revelation

As many of you know during the San Diego Comic Con I was given theatlantisrevelation chance to interview Thomas Greanias for the site.  Now I get the chance to review his newest novel The Atlantis Revelation!!  After the break you can read my reivew of Tom’s last installment in the Atlantis Trilogy.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Atlantis Trilogy let me set the stage for you.  The first novel Raising Atlantis introduces us to Dr. Conrad Yeats, an astro-archaeologist, who is summoned to Antarctica to help his father Griffin Yeats,  the American military has found what could be Atlantis.  The Vatican dispatches Sister Serena Serghetti to find out what the U.S. has been up to on the frozen continent.  After a harrowing escape from Atlantis Conrad and Sister Serghetti go their separate ways, Conrad heads for Washington and Sister Serghetti heads back to Rome.  Conrad’s father has died and Conrad learned a startling secret: he is Atlantean.  The Atlantis Prophecy picks up four years later at the funeral of Griffin Yeats, there are strange markings that the government wants Conrad to decipher.  With the help and hindrance of Sister Serghetti, Conrad is able to save the United States from certain doom from a secret society called The Alignment who are after what’s buried under Washington D.C.

Now onto The Atlantis Revelation.  This novel does a great job of introducing new players within the Alignment and continues to build upon Conrad Yeats’s character.  His partner, sometimes adversary, Sister Serghetti receives the same treatment in character development as well.  It seems that no matter what Conrad does the Alignment will stop at nothing until the New World Order is established and Sir Roman Midas will do whatever it takes to make sure that their orders are fulfilled.  It begins with an all out race to find the Flammenschwert a weapon that SS General Ludwig von Berg, Baron of the Black Order, had in his possession when his submarine was sunk in the Mediteranean.  The Flammenschwert is taken by Sir Midas’s men and Conrad is left with the skull of the Baron and a desperate need to abandon the submarine before it falls into the Calypso Deep.

From there Conrad is thrown into battling the Alignment for the final time.  Themes from his pevious novels are brought into play in the final chapter of the Atlantis trilogy, including the two globes from The Atlantis Prophecy.  We also learn that the coin that each of the 30 members of the Alignment’s upper echelon wear are actually the 30 pieces of silver that Judas received for betraying Christ.

It all pulls together in the end at the gates of Eden as Conrad and Sister Serghetti thwart the plans of Midas and the Alignment, bringing an end to their quest for world domination.  The novel ends with a declaration of love that I just can’t spoil for the fans :)

All in all I loved this novel, I lked how it brought in characters from Tom’s previous novels and gave updates on what they have been up to.  I liked how none of the items brought to light in the other novels were left out, in fact new twists and turns were added in for the fans to enjoy. The Atlantis Revelation closes out the Atlantis trilogy nicely.  But one thing kept itching in the back of my mind, Who will the minor character turn out to be that stars in Tom’s next book?  I think I’ve boiled it down to two choices, the first is Commander Sam Deker and second is Conrad’s yet to be born child.  Hey the man has had visions in the past that turned out to be legitimate :)
