Review of Star Wars Legacy #39 Tatooine part 3
X-Wingurly and I sat down this afternoon and discussed the newest i
ssue of Legacy, after the break you can read our thoughts on the newest developments for Cade and the crew of the Mynock. Warning there will be spoilers if you haven’t read the issue!!
Corax: The issue starts off in the Dune Sea where Cade and Gunner are trying to find safety. Cade sees Force Ghost Luke and follows his spirit to the Lars homestead.
X-Wingurly: This issue brought us back to the beginning of Luke’s journey. It was interesting to hear Luke’s thoughts on what happened and have Cade there taking it all in.
Corax: Luke and Cade keep jumping through time to different parts of Luke’s past to highlight the importance of destiny and how you don’t really get to choose what you do. Luke finally pisses Cade off enough that he strikes out at him and Luke refuses to fight.
X-Wingurly: This whole panel will remind readers of Return of the Jedi and Luke’s battle with Vader. I love how they use that battle to parallel his fight with Cade.
Corax: Luke does show him the error of his ways and what will happen if he continues to follow the same path he has been. A vision of Sith Cade all tatted up surrounded by his friends all dead. Cade finally voices out loud that he doesn’t want to be a Sith,
X-Wingurly: We mentioned before how this arc seems to be the turning point for Cade and his encounter with Luke seals it. I expect to see Cade, still with a somewhat snarky attitude, come around and be the Jedi we all have been waiting for.
Corax: During this time, Cade and Gunner have an interesting converstion. Or should I say fight?
X-Wingurly: Both! We come to find out, after Cade realizes that Gunner’s father headed up the Ossus massacre, that Moff Yafe has been having a hard time dealing with the butchering of Jedi, especially the younglings, seven years ago.
Corax: Moff Yage had been tricked by the Sith and that he has not been the same ever since. He spent a week in a drunken stupor after the massacre.
That was a very intriguing look into the life of one of the leading members of the Moff Council and I think he will become an important player later in the series.
X-Wingurly: Cade and Gunner come to an unsteady truce as they realize that the assassins are still out there chasing them.
Corax: All the while Jariah and Morrigan Corde are also trying to track down Cade and Gunner.
X-Wingurly: Can I jut say that as weird as it may be, I would not be opposed to Jariah and Morrigan being together. They are hilarious.
Corax: I love the banter between the two of them. Jariah and Morrigan’s scene together in the desert is awesome, Nuff’ said.
X-Wingurly: It is here that the Anzati couple attck a sleeping Cade and Gunner.
Corax: Cade fights off both of them…
X-wingurly: Without using the Dark side…
Corax: And of course Gunner wakes and thinks that Cade is trying to assault her.
X-Wingurly: At least in this issue Cade keeps the sexual innuendo to a minimum. Jariah and Morrigan are watching them and notice the Blood Carver is not with the Anzati couple. Morrigan takes it upon herself to confront him and gets knocked down where the issue ends with a cliffhanger.
Corax: All in all I think this was my favorite issue of Legacy so far. So many things happened in this issue that it warrants multiple readings just to notice everything. Now just 30 more days or so until the fateful meeting between mother and son… and daughter if we count Gunner
