Review- Star Wars Invasion #0
X-wingurly and I sat down today to discuss the six new pages of material for
the special one-shot release of Star Wars Invasion #0. Also included in the review are links to our original reviews when TOS ran the first two issues back in May and June.
X-Wingurly: Invasion issue 0 were the originally released story on TOS. While this issue was a little more expensive than other SW comics, it is well worth it as it is definitely longer than most.
Corax: When TOS posted the first two-parts to the Invasion story I figured that Tom and Colin had told what they wanted to. Oh how wrong I was. In six extra pages we learn so much more about the series and it’s main heroes.
X-Wingurly: We see not only see an extra scene with the Galfridians celebrating a birth day but we also get a glimpse of Luke, Han and the Solo kids.
Corax: Tsalok even makes an appearance and his presence is definitely felt, given the opening shot of #4. In the final page we get a real tear-jerker; Han Solo alone in the Falcon’s cockpit picking a strand of Chewie’s fur off of his vest and realizing that Chewie’s not there anymore.
X-wingurly: And we were told the inspiration behind this last scene.
Corax: Yeah, when Tom was writing the final page it was after his dog, Marvel, had died. Marvel used to shed hair everywhere and then slowly, after he was gone, Tom was finding less and less. So a personal connection for Tom definitely went into the touching, emotional passage on the final page.
X-Wingurly: So if you have been reading Invasion or have yet to pick it up, you won’t want to forgo issue 0.
