REVIEW- Star Wars Legacy #42
Once again X-Wingurly and I sat down to discuss the newest issue of Legacy.
After the break you can read our thoughts on the return of the Jedi in the Legacy Era!!
Corax: Issue 42 kicks off immedietely with the Jedi meeting up with Stazi’s fleet. It was good to see the jedi from the cover of issue 26 make an official appearance.
X-Wingurly: This issue really showcased what the Jedi are about. They remind me of the Knights of the Old Republic Order yet without being beholden to any one government. While Stazi, like most non-force users, is cautious of the Jedi and their Force powers, he trusts the judgement of his second in command, as well as his instincts, in placing his trust in the Jedi.
Corax: Unlike Stazi, Sigel Dare made her dislike of Jedi very clear. She didn’t want their help whatsoever and had a very Imperial attitude towards them.
X-Wingurly: Although that didn’t stop the Jedi Asaak Dan from poking fun and teasing her while they were on a mission to bring Tres Sinde back to Bastion. Dan could become another fan favorite if he is utilized in later issues.
Corax: Dan is easy to like with his dry humor and calm presence. After he and Sigel Dare meet up with Sinde, Sigel is none to pleased on Sinde’s choice to stay behind and help the Mon Cal Rangers.
X-Wingurly: Sigel has some anger issues it seems. She immedietely decided to attack Sinde and bring him back by force if she had to.
Corax: This is where Dan shines. He not only takes on both Sigel and Tres Sinde, but he is able to work out a compromise. He decides he will stay and help out the Mon Cal Rangers and Sinde can go back and help train new Imperial Knights properly. And we learn some interesting tidbits about the Knights.
X-Wingurly: It was touched upon before but it looks as though there may be a philisophical divide within the Imperial Knights. Ganner was the first to say it in an earlier issue to Antares but Sinde basically called Sigel out on her choice to blindly obey the Emperor only and not the Force as embodied by the Emporer. Sigel didn’t like that.
Corax: Although she did admit that his skills were impressive. Going back to Stazi and the other Jedi for a second, we find that there is a traitor on his ship. Not only does he give away the GA’s location, but he also shoots Stazi in the back, gravely injuring him. The Sith-Imperial forces proceed to ambush them and the GA takes on some heavy damage.
X-Wingurly: Not going to lie, I thought John was going to kill Stazi off at first. It wouldn’t be the first time they threw in a twist like that. Good thing he is not dead though as Stazi’s character keeps getting better. it was also great to see that most of the characters in this arc were non human. Makes the galaxy a bigger place.
Corax: We also got to see Stazi’s second in command, Jhoram Bey, in action. He was correct in saying that the GA would have lost it all if Stazi died at this point. The way the whole battle was presented in the issue came across great as well. I think that between this issue and the last John and Jan have proven that even though Legacy has been going on for over three years, we have just barely scratched the surface of this era.
X-Wingurly: I agree. things also seems to be tying together. I don’t think Cade’s running from the galaxy’s problems is going to last anymore.
Corax: I feel bad for those fans who have said they aren’t looking forward to seeing Cade’s story pick up again. While I also enjoy the other plot lines, I think things are about to get very, very interesting for the crew of the Mynock. So stick around for issue 43!
