Imperial Commando 2 cancelled & more info on Paul Kemp’s TOR book

From a couple of author blogs, we bring you the following tid bits about the cancellation of Imperial Commando 2 (or at least, Karen Traviss is not doing an Imperial Commando 2) and a little more about Paul Kemp’s TOR book right from the author himself:

From Karen Traviss’ blog:

But today I’m reacting, because somebody blurted out something on a forum, and the rumours started. Yes, for once a rumour is actually true; I’ve withdrawn from the sequel to Imperial Commando 501st, which was going to be my final Star Wars novel. I had issues over contractual matters and working practices that still showed no signs of being resolvable after a couple of years, so I told the publisher that I would not be doing the book.

Disappointing news in that I would have liked to see Darman’s story get wrapped up in this final book, even though we as readers have a general sense that Skirata’s plan to save his sons finds at least some success from the story we were told in Legacy of the Force. On to other happier news, from Paul Kemp’s blog:

Since it’s been mentioned at Starwars.com, I can confirm that I’ll be writing a third Star Wars novel, this one a hardcover set in The Old Republic and connected to The Old Republic MMORPG ( to be clear, this Old Republic novel is NOT the sequel to Crosscurrent that I mentioned in another post; that sequel will be a mass market paperback and will not be set in The Old Republic time frame).

As the article states, this novel is in the very early stages so we’re still working through details. I’ll provide them when I have them and get the okay.

This is a follow up to the official annoucement that Max reported on a couple of days ago, but now we know it’s going to be a hardcover novel. So head to our messageboards and tell us what you think of this news.
