Star Wars Legacy #43 Review

Due to crazy Iowa weather and a comic shop not getting the issue on timlegacy-432e, X-Wingurly and I are proud to bring you our delayed review of Legacy #43.

Corax: After reading this entire issue I understand why Dark Horse chose to go with the three page preview they used.  It was probably the lightest moment of the whole issue.  The opening flashback/vision of Wayland was pure awesome. It showed something we haven’t seen a lot of, Cade truly happy.

X-Wingurly: We also get see a realxed and cotent Kol Skywalker who seems to have moved on from his relationship with Calixte/Corde by apparently having a “close” relationship with the Yuuzhan Vong Shaper Nei Rin. It speaks volumes about the kind of person Kol was.

Corax: But the Ossus project seemed to good to be true from the get go. Within six months things started going wrong.

X-Wingurly: Wayland was the first planet to get sabotaged. It is from this flashback that we see Wolf Sazen waking from what he says is a vision of where to find Cade.
Corax: The return of Wolf Sazen to the story line is very welcomed as well, and I love his new look.  I sensed some hostility from Shado in their conversation though. I think there is some rivalry between Shado and Cade.

X-Wingurly: I have always gotten the impression that Shado thinks Wolf is wasting his time by trying to track Cade and bring him back in the fold. Not sure if it is rivalry but Shado does seem to get exasperated by Cade. Who wouldn’t though?

Corax: True. With Cade still gallivanting around the galaxy and using deathsticks, which Deliah was not happy about, he would try the patience of a Saint.

X-Wingurly: Cade and Company are enjoying themselves on Zeltros and we get to see Queen Jool once again. She built another cantina there and is enjoying herself as much, if not more, than Cade and Jariah who are surrounded by half naked Zeltrons. The more I read of her the more I like her; although her penchant for human/Zeltron men gets a little creepy. It invoked the memory of Jabba the Hutt when he saw Leia in her infamous slave outfit.

Corax: I’ve always been a fan of Hutts and Queen Jool does not disappoint. Plus the fact that Cade showed Jariah what it’s like to touch the Force was beautifully done in this issue and it’s shown exactly how far Jariah has come from the very beginning of the series.

X-wingurly: But Jariah’s character has definitely evolved to where he doesn’t put up a fight when Cade mentions to a party crashing Rav that he no longer hunts Jedi.

Corax: Cade’s dealing of the two bounty hunters with Rav was awesome. His disdain for Rav was equally appreciated.

X-Wingurly: Although I would love to know what language and insults Cade was trading with one of them. How many languages does Cade know anyway?

Corax: Maybe he just knows the bad words? lol So a blue-milk run for a million credits, huh?  Nothing could go wrong, right?   Famous last words.

X-Wingurly: Anything worth that much and sounds easy is not going to be good.  The job Rav wants them to do is back on Wayland. Cade is not happy and this is fairly screaming trouble. The issue then takes us to Coruscant where we see how the arrogant Morlish Veed is doing being Regent.

Corax: It is evident that Morlish loves his role as Regent. On the other hand Nyna clearly doesn’t. I think the tables have turned against Moff Calixte and for the first time we see her losing the control she has had over the situation on Coruscant.

X-Wingurly: This puts her in a very interesting position. Since Veed seems to be getting intel from people other than her, this may free her up  more to be Morrigan Corde or for her to make a move against Veed. Or even a different third option. I do wonder if Nyna will tell Roan Fel that his meeting with the Jedi has been compromised.

Corax: It will be interesting to see where her loyalties will be now that Veed no longer wants her. Emperor Fel is planning on going to Agamar for the meeting. We are introduced to the Master Armorer of the Imperial Knights Master Hogrum Chalk.

X-Wingurly: Master Chalk, who is wearing cybernetic armor himself, developed an armor that allows Azlyn Rae to still fight and maneuver. It is supposed to be cutting edge to where the wearer of the armor can still fully function in combat. I like how there is technological advancement in this area as opposed to Azlyn forever being Darth Vader like in her movement.

Corax: While Azlyn still bears the scars of what happened to her, she looks determined to get back into fighting shape as soon as possible. I’m very intrigued by this development and can’t wait to see where it goes. All in all this was the perfect beginning to one ‘Monster’ of an arc for Legacy and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here :)
