REVIEW- Legacy #45

Things aren’t looking too hot for the crew of the Mynock.  After the brelegacy-451ak you can read X-Wingurly’s and my thoughts on the newest issue of Star Wars Legacy.

Corax: To start things off, this issue was intense; especially for Cade.

X-Wingurly: While the issue did have a lot of emotion, it was another filler issue. Nothing climactic happened (although next issue looks promising) but like Corax said, its the intensity of the events that make this issue interesting.

Corax: Maladi’s father was a rare Devoronian Jedi, who we see in the very first panel of the comic. We also learn her name, Malincha.

X-Wingurly: I think her being the daughter of Jedi gives her more depth as a character than your stereotypical Sith.

Corax: The preview did no justice with the Maladi/Nihl exchange.

X-Wingurly: A weird part of you wants you to see them just get down and dirty because they have so much, ah, *cough* tension between them. But as Nihl said, it will not happen as they would end up killing each other. I guess that sums their relationship pretty nicely. She does have other plans for Nihl though.

Corax: Maladi has forged a new weapon because she wants to rule the Sith, although I think she wants Nihl to be the “Leader.” Kind of like Calixte’s relationship with Veed used to be. Very intriguing and I get the sense that Nihl’s adventure to Korriban is a test by Maladi. If he survives he will be worthy. If he doesn’t, well that kind of answers itself doesn’t it? We do get a glance at another Sith though: Darth Rauder.

X-Wingurly: I will say that I was disappointed with her. I would love an issue that is dedicated to fleshing out the One Sith and getting more personality. She is a very typical Sith. “I am the leader. I will kill you” etc. etc. etc. The redeeming part about meeting Rauder was the scene between Moff Yage and Gunner that came right after it.

Corax: Gunner is wondering about sharing the information she has on Calixte/Corde. It makes you wonder if she will actually go through with it or if Moff Yage already knows about it.

X-Wingurly: I have always wondered if Moff Yage was keeping Calixte’s secret as well and didn’t say anything for Gunner’s sake? The more I read about him the more I realize that this guy should be a GA officer and not an Imperial; or at least an Imperial officer under the Sith.

Corax: The scene was too short to give any clue as to what Gunner (or even Moff Yage)would do as we get right into Cade finding Blue.

X-Wingurly: In this panel we get a good look at the Embrace of Pain where Blue is being held. Cade tries to free her of it but only succeeds in giving her more pain. His shatterpoint skills are no use here. She then lays the verbal smack down on him. It is really sad to see Blue accuse Cade but Cade realizes the depth of pain she is in.

Corax: I actually think Cade really loves Deliah. Poor Deliah. She is trapped in another attempt to turn Cade to the Dark Side. As if this girl hasn’t suffered enough, she is really suffering now. Maladi is using her as a test subject for her new weapon against the Sith.

X-Wingurly: Cade is obviously none too happy and he bargains with Maladi to get her out of the Embrace. This whole time Cade was doing well but seeing Blue suffer makes him come apart.

Corax: Cade really got himself trapped this time. Don’t count him out yet. Jariah is still out there searching for both of them.

X-Wingurly: Jariah is the wild card. He is determined to free them and since Maladi has Cade, my guess is she won’t be expecting anyone else to show up.

Corax: In Jariah’s brief panel, we see his respect for Cade. It shows how much as a person he has grown. This time, I want to see Jariah save the day.

X-Wingurly: That would be a nice change. And with Wolf Sazen also searching for Cade, they just may run into each other and concoct a plan to get them the hell out of there.

Corax: Wolf has landed on Wayland just as Cade makes his bargain with Maladi. With Wolf in Wayland the “leader” for the Jedi seems to be Master K’Kruhk.

X-Wingurly: In the Fel encampment, there is a brief exchange between Draco and Sinde. It left me thinking that I really like Sinde but Draco is just a hotheaded ass.

Corax: Draco says he knows his duty but I don’t think people would be questioning where his duty lies if he wasn’t so transparent with his feelings for Marasiah. The argument was fun to read about as Draco didn’t stand a chance against Sinde.

X-Wingurly: This was another place I was slightly disappointed with. Kind of a missed opportunity to introduce a new Knight or give even Draco some more depth. Either way, Sinde is the voice of calm reason. Which is good because the Jedi, notably Shado, are also leery of making an alliance with Fel and his people.

Corax: Just as negotiations were finishing up, Calixte, as only she can do, makes her not so grand entrance to warn them that the Sith know about the meeting.

X-Wingurly: While her intentions were good they were a bit too late as the Sith started attacking above planet. Calixte seemed a little desperate to warn them. Makes you wonder why and what game she is playing at.

Corax:  I immediately think of self preservation but maybe she has a connection with Fel that we haven’t seen explored too much yet?  After all, she did warn him of the Sith’s intentions to kill him at the start of the series.

X-Wingurly: Hopefully this will be answered in the next issue. I would like to see Calixte/Fel have some more screen time together to get a better feel for what is going on.

Corax: With these past two issues giving us the details, I think we will see some heavy action in the next one. Stay tuned until next time!
