Welcome back to the second part of the Tom Taylor interview!!  After the break you can read the next batch of answers that were sent in!!

NJOE: Can you talk about the first idea you pitched to Dark Horse that was turned down?
 
Tom:  No. Except to say it wasn’t my idea. It was something Randy Stradley asked for that it turned out couldn’t happen yet… I’d still love to do it. I know exactly how I’d do it. But… no.
 
NJOE:  Did you ever expect to land a job like this?
 
Tom:  No (Tom giggles and does a little dance).
 
NJOE:  Were the six bonus pages for the zero issue planned, or did that come about just for the zero issue?
 
Tom:  A bit of both. I was asked to write the extra six pages long after I’d written the first, but I already had an idea of what I wanted to add by then. I always wanted to show the Galfridian family all together before the Invasion began, but to show them in those first sixteen pages would have jarred, as the online preview was all about introducing the Yuuzhan Vong and Panha and Sarkkin’s story. I’d actually written the scene with Han already, after our dog died. He was an insanely hairy animal and we used to have to vacuum constantly to deal with him and we never had any clothes that didn’t have a piece of him on it. I could see the same thing happening to Han, and I’ve heard that that scene resonated a lot with fans. It was great to see Issue #0 nominated for a Gem award. 
 
NJOE:   Will we see shapers doing crazy and heretical things to further the cause of the Yuuzhan Vong?
 
Tom:  Of course. Where’s the fun without heresy?
 
NJOE:  Vergere, a creature of much debate. Will she show up some time in Invasion?

Tom:  I’m debating this myself. :)
 
NJOE:   Finn now has his own personal enemy gunning for him. Is it fair to say that Kaye has personally declared war on all of the Yuuzhan Vong?
 
Tom:  Kaye is the toughest person I’ve ever written. However, she was raised as a princess on a planet of peace. She, like her father, simply wants to protect her people… of course, she just might be a little too overprotective. 
  
NJOE:   Will we get to see Finn construct his own lightsaber?
 
Tom: Hmmm. Probably not. War waits for no man. Although, it does wait for Leia in issue #5 of Refugees. Even war isn’t stupid enough to cross her. 
 
NJOE:   How many issues will the next arc last?
 
Tom:  Six issues. Thank you for this easy question.
 
NJOE:   Will we see the Peace Brigade or Mandalorians?
 
Tom:  Maybe.
 
NJOE:  Will the story jump ahead in time? For instance will the third arc be 2 years later or something like that?
 
Tom:  Not yet…
 
 NJOE:  Will Finn ever be able to give his birthday gift to his father?
 
Tom:  Kind of.
 
 NJOE:  Is Kaye Force sensitive?
 
Tom:  I’m not sure. Every time I ask her, she waves her hand in front of my face and I forget what I was saying.
