In Case You Missed It - Week of 6/1/2010 to 6/6/2010
Sometimes a whole bunch of news comes out during the course of a given week that articles just don’t last long enough on our front page. Or perhaps it’s just that the piece of news wasn’t enough to warrant a front page story, but is still deserving of being recognized as newsworthy. In Case You Missed It is meant to be our catch-all for those things – a way for us to summarize the past week’s worth of news.
Probably the biggest news for SW lit fans over the past week was Paul Kemp posting the Dramatis Personae from his upcoming The Old Republic: Deceived novel, with what appears to be a connection to one of the main characters from Crosscurrent. In other Paul Kemp news, his Ervis Cale trilogy from Forgotten Realms was released as an omnibus last week, and an interview with the author went up at FantasyHandBook.com.
While we’re talking TOR, there was an interview with one of the game’s creators last week, as well as some new trailers from both TOR and The Force Unleashed II (and you should check out Iurus’ recent Why TFUII was Inevitable Column while you’re at it). There was also some news about the upcoming The Clone Wars MMO from us as well as over at TheForce.net.
In children’s Star Wars book news, a first look at Star Wars: Lightsabers went up at the official site, and my review of the new release Adventures in Hyperspace: Fire Ring Race went up on our front page last week.
If you’re looking for Star Wars events - well, currently Disney is doing it’s Star Wars Weekends - and you can read a report from it at EUCantina. More Guests have been announced for Celebration V, and more dates have been announced for Star Wars In Concert.
In comics news, there was an interview with John and Jan about the end of Legacy at CBR - and a first look at art from Star Wars: Blood Ties - A Tale of Jango and Boba Fett #1 was featured at Dark Horse. In more general comic news, you can see a preview of Boom Studios upcoming comics (including Disney, Muppet and Zombie titles), a preview for the Predators Movie comic prequel, previews for this week’s Marvel comics (and one for Secret Avengers #2 and DC’s Brightest Day #3) and a quick list of cosmic comic reviews from the past week (as well as my own review of the cosmic story War of Kings).
From NJOE.com, you could also check out a book review of Death Star, a review of KOTOR vol 4: Daze of Hate, Knights of Suffering comic TPB, and Dr. Gina’s latest column on the real world science behind the Yuuzhan Vong “We can make JEEDAI using biots“. And the Retrospective of NJOE.com Survivor continues with a look back at Round 2.
And to end with a small note, Drew Karpyshyn mentioned on his website that he expects to have some Star Wars news coming in the next week or two - and that he would mention it in his twitter feed first when he can (so if you’re not following him @DrewKarpyshyn or us @njoenews you should be).
