In Case You Missed It - Week of 7/13/2010 to 7/19/2010
Sometimes a whole bunch of news comes out during the course of a given week that articles just don’t last long enough on our front page. Or perhaps it’s just that the piece of news wasn’t enough to warrant a front page story, but is still deserving of being recognized as newsworthy. In Case You Missed It is meant to be our catch-all for those things – a way for us to summarize the past week’s worth of news. Due to this column being delayed by a day, and the volume of news about SDCC and CV that came out over this past week, I’m going to direct you to the threads devoted to those topics in our forum for the latest news (for instance, that Mark Hamil will be attending CV, or that Bioware wants to reveal something extra at SDCC, but first they want to reach a certain amount of followers on Facebook and Twitter).
In the meantime, we have some new news in the world of Star Wars books and comics out of this past week. First, it’s been revealed that Timothy Zahn’s next Star Wars book will be called The Hand of Judgement, and will be coming out July 19th of 2011. And since it’s release week for Fatal Alliance, Sean Williams
has done a blog post about the book for Suvudu which is worth a read. There was an inside look and interview with the author of The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia at the Official Site (I reviewed the book here), and TFN had news of the preorder information for Gus and Duncan’s Guide to SW Prototypes and pointed out that the publisher has a look inside that book as well. Unfortunately, the news also came out that Imperial Commando 2 has been cancelled for good, though there are hopes that a future paperback novel will resolve those stories still left open.
The solicitations for Octboer’s Star Wars comics from Dark Horse were revealed this past week too, and you can get a look at them here. Some new previews were put up on Dark Horse’s site for upcoming releases The Will of Darth Vader, Threat of Peace #2, and Invasion: Rescues #3. John Jackson Miller talks a little bit about Knight Errant at his blog, as well as the new Mass Effect comics, also reported on here. Continuing with the comic theme; the rest of Dark Horse’s October Solicitations also came out, news of a Predators sequel comic, Felicia Day’s The Guild returns to comics at DH, news that DC’s Black Lanterns will return, the latest cosmic marvel comic to get a new take will be Captain America and
the Korvac Saga, as well as a first look at The Thanos Imperative #3.
Finishing out our wrap up, the costumes for Green Lantern as well as Thor, Loki, and Odin were revealed last week - and you can expect much more in terms of comic books and comic based movies this weekend as the San Diego Comic Con begins. We’ll have three reporters on the scene providing NJOE with news as it happens and reports on the panels they attend - so keep checking the front page all through the weekend and follow us on twitter @njoenews to get all the latest updates as soon as possible. And as always, check out the topic below to see all the latest Star Wars news as it breaks during the week.
