If you’re reading this article, chances are pretty good that you’re aware that Paul Kemp’s new novel, Crosscurrent, will be released within the next week. Now, I have to imagine that the average reader of that novel will not have played Jedi Knight : Jedi Academy, a PC, Mac and Xbox game originally released back in 2003. And yet, given that Jaden Korr will be starring in Kemp’s novel, I thought I might devote this column to setting the stage for Korr’s entrance.

Star Wars hasn’t been without controversy from the beginning, whether it be Luke and Leia’s kiss or the destruction of Alderaan. In my column, I will strive to defend its controversial authors, ideas, or characters. My intent is to bring these issues to light and see the intent behind them
This month’s case is the unfortunate death of Nelani Dinn. Click on the link below and see how Nelani Dinn’s death was foreshadowed before Betrayal…

TOS has posted the First Look for the final installment of the Rebel Force series, Uprising, which now is scheduled to release May of this year. Along with a title, they’ve posted a blurb and cover, both which can be viewed here and below.

It’s been months since Luke’s life was threatened by Rezi Soresh. But that doesn’t mean he’s safe.
Soresh is a patient man, and he’s willing to wait for the right moment. He has more reasons than ever: In the wake of his last attempt to get rid of the Rebellion’s top pilot, Soresh was accused of being a traitor and relieved of his command. Humiliated and alone, he’s retreated to a quiet corner of the galaxy, evading any Imperial troops that would arrest him. And now, he has a plan to strike back at every one of his enemies — starting with Luke Skywalker.
Uprising is due out in May of 2010.
Some of you may remember awhile back that Sue Rostoni commented that the number of Rebel Force books would be ten; that seems to have changed now.

As fellow reporter max jaybo pointed out TOS has added a blurb for the third Lost Tribe of the Sith ebook Paragon. They also give us a look at the cover.
Darkness Visible
The ruthless cunning of the Sith Order has served the shipwrecked crew of the Omen well on the alien planet Kesh. Subjugating the superstitious Keshiri race by posing as its fabled overlords has ensured the Sith’s survival — while they struggle in secret to return to the stars. But after fifteen years on their adopted world, some among the lost tribe have grown restless and fearful that assimilation will consume their Sith heritage. Now, as rival factions begin to appear, a shocking disaster throws into doubt the Sith’s future on Kesh.
In the distant city of Tetsubal, the entire native populace is suddenly wiped out by a grisly plague of unknown origin. With terrifying speed, more cities succumb to the mysterious contagion. Only the Sith remain unharmed — so far. And as Sith commander Yaru Korsin grapples with the looming loss of the paradise he rules and the race his people have come to depend upon, he must confront the dark possibility that the catastrophe may not be cruel fate but insidious sabotage.
Lost Tribe of the Sith Paragon is written by John Jackson Miller and is scheduled for release on February 10th.

With Crosscurrent coming out next week, the news team thought we would try to find as many stories to tie into it as we can - Jaden Korr was Kyle Katarn’s apprentice, he first showed up in a Jedi Knight game (one of the sequels to Dark Forces) - so that’s how I came to be reviewing this book. I shy away from using the phrase Graphic Novel. I like comic books - I just happen to like them collected into Trade Paperbacks nowadays, but they’re still comic books to me. Dark Forces is quite another thing though - and easily fits the moniker Graphic Novel - it’s really a short story with occasional one page artwork thrown in showing you a part of a scene. If you’re wondering how this format worked for me, I’ll go into a detailed review after the break.

Today is a new day for me.
Why?
Well, there are many reasons. First off, this is the first review I’m writing in 2010 (pronounced “two oh ten“) or at least the first review written entirely in 2010, with a book that I finished in 2010. So, while my review of Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon was my last review of 2009, Will Brooker’s BFI Film Classics: Star Wars is my first review of Two Oh Ten. In addition to that, if the title didn’t give it away, this is my first review of a non-fiction piece. I pray I don’t screw this one up.
Will Brooker’s Star Wars is part of the BFI Film Classics series. This edition was released in 2009, with which Palgrave Macmillan decided to grace me with a free review copy. Here’s to hoping for Empire Strikes Back! Brooker takes us through George Lucas’s history as a film-maker, from his days as a film student at the University of Southern California, through the release of Star Wars: A New Hope and even to the prequel trilogy with one primary theme in mind: the relationship between Order and Chaos as seen by George Lucas. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I started reading these books…
The Star Wars Expanded Universe is a big place, and one that’s easy to get lost in. To the extent that my bookshelf allows, every Tuesday I or another reviewer will be guiding you through the EU with (generally) chronologically placed reviews of Star Wars novels. Today I will be reviewing Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the first novel of L. Neil Smith’s trilogy The Adventures of Lando Calrissian and one of the oldest novels in the Expanded Universe (a decade and a half older than any novel I’ve reviewed so far!).
This is my first review released in 2010 (pronounced “two oh-ten“), and as such, I’m trying something new. Those who’ve only been following my book reviews might notice that this review is much more in depth and interesting (at least, I hope so) than my previous reviews. For the months of January and February Two Oh Ten, I’m putting out a call for all readers to send me video clips to use in my reviews! Any clip you’ve got, be it a video game, webshow, movie, go ahead as long as it’s highly quotable, well known, or has some other similar comedic or other value. No longer than 30 seconds, and even that’s really pushing it (I’d prefer to keep them under 10). The clips I’ve added so far can be found here. You’re free to cut down or improve clips I’ve found, but please no duplicates. You probably won’t get any credit, but I may eventually do something. This is strictly charity- consider it a Wiki Review Project.
In the dark days of the Empire, before Timothy Zahn and Kevin J. Anderson made their mark on the Expanded Universe, the scum of the galaxy consisted of bounty hunters, smugglers… and gamblers. Skilled but ever-challenged gambler Lando Calrissian, new captain of the freighter Millenium Falcon, has come across another new acquisition. What these have to do with Lando’s sudden arrest is a mystery- one that is quickly laid to the side by the mysteries of the long gone Sharu of the Rafa System.

I know a lot of fans have been anxiously waiting for Legacy of the Force to hit Japanese publishers and get cover art made for them.
Well, that hasn’t happened yet. NJOE member PrincessXion, however, has posted the covers for Millennium Falcon on NJOE! Read after the break to see.
